Driving down the road recently, suddenly my 1KD Diesel engine on my Vigo just switched off. It feels pretty unsettling, gaari achanak band hojaye aur phir do attempts ke bad chal jaye...

Kisi aur ko aisa masla hua hai? Har baar, I try starting it back up, and usually it works by the second attempt, but yeh reliable bilkul nahi hai, especially jab Lahore ki busy roads pe hoon.

Noticed also there is no consistent pattern, kabhi traffic pe, kabhi speed pe, it is just random and giving me serious stress kyun kay agay se koi takra gaya toh.

The other day, it stalled while I was crossing Mall Road, which was quite nerve wracking. And it seems like the engine check light is not showing any error codes either, making it even harder to diagnose the problem.

Pichlay hafte highway pe bhi aisa hi huwa tha, so you can imagine how scary that was at higher speeds. I am trying to understand agar koi specific reason hai for this.

I really need to get this sorted kyun kay it is not just inconvenient, it is risky too. Was wondering ke koi fuel system problem ho sakta hai, ya phir something with the electricals?

Mujhe kisi ne suggest kiya tha ke fuel pump check karwao but us ke liye specific mechanic hona chahiye jo is model ka experience rakhta ho.

Agar kisi ko pata hai where in Lahore I can find a place to get this checked thoroughly, let me know. Saath hi, if anyone has faced similar issues with Vigo's diesel engines, especially in this region, your input would be invaluable.

Or any local group jahan aise mechanical maslay discuss hotay hain, it would be great to connect there too. Really need to fix this before it turns into a bigger headache.

Suggestions on trusted mechanics ya koi specific diagnostic techniques that have worked for others would be much appreciated. Talash hai kisi expert ki jo is maslay ka solution de...

Have you checked if the battery is supplying the right voltage? A weak battery can cause random shutdowns, especially under load. I had a car that kept stalling because of an old battery, and just replacing it fixed my problems.

@Shoaib Malik It is easy to point to the ignition system when facing shutdown issues, but I am skeptical that is always the culprit. For instance, an old fuel pump can cause poor fuel pressure that mimics ignition problems.

If the fuel system is not delivering enough pressure, it can lead to stalling without throwing any codes. I went through something similar last year, where everyone kept saying it was the ignition, yet after checking the fuel lines and pump, I found out the issue was a blocked filter.

This resulted in me wasting time and money on the wrong diagnosis. A thorough inspection of the fuel system may be needed before jumping to conclusions about the ignition system being at fault.

if you want proper diagnostics, I recommend visiting reliable places that specialize in fuel system problems, and do ask a mechanic who uses a good diagnostic tool. that way you can determine the actual source of the problem.

It sounds like a tricky situation. I had a similar experience where my car would shut off unexpectedly, and I realized it was due to a faulty fuel pump.

@Shoaib Malik Random shutdowns can definitely feel scary. ignition issues are often a common suspect, but there are so many other things that can cause this symptom.

For example, a malfunctioning crankshaft position sensor can also lead to stalling since it affects engine timing and fuel delivery. I remember a friend who dealt with a similar issue, and it turned out his wiring harness had some wear and tear, leading to interruption in power supply.

It might be worth checking all the wiring connections around the ignition system and engine to ensure nothing is loose or damaged. Sometimes, it is simple things that can cause big headaches, and getting a good mechanic to check the whole system might save a lot of time and effort.

If you are looking for reliable mechanics, I suggest checking out Auto Masters in your area. They have a decent reputation for addressing such electrical issues effectively.

@Hussain Shah Shah, oh wow, the famous fuel pump surprise! That tricky little gadget gets a real kick out of stalling cars while we run around blaming ignition systems like it is some soap opera drama.

They should really offer awards for the most misdiagnosed car part, right?:D I remember last month when my friend was lost in car diagnosis confusion.

Everyone was sure it was the ignition system. Surprise, surprise, it was the fuel pump all along! A quick fix there, and suddenly, the car was running like a dream.

Such a classic twist, honestly. They should probably start selling Blame the Fuel Pump posters at mechanic shops. It is amazing how we often overlook the simplest issues in favor of the complex ones. Makes life a bit more spicy, I suppose!

@Samina Baig That is definitely frustrating when the fuel pump is acting up like that. i have seen it happen where people overlook the fuel filter as well.

If it is dirty or clogged, it can restrict fuel flow and cause similar shutdown issues. Getting that checked along with the pump could save a lot of headaches down the line.

Sometimes, just a clean or replacement of the filter can restore proper function. It might be worth visiting a local shop that knows this model well.

if you have not already, consider going to Diesel Solutions in your area. They are known for thorough diagnostics when it comes to these issues.

@Komal Shah Haan, bilkul ajeeb lagta hai jab gaari random shutdowns karne lage. Crankshaft position sensor bohot mukhtalif maslay create kar sakta hai agar sahi kaam na kare.

Is sensor ne overall timing aur engine performance pe bhi asar dalna hota hai. Kayi dafa, simple wiring issues bhi isko trigger karti hain.

wiring harness agar chafed ya loose ho, toh yeh signals ko interrupt kar sakti hai. ek dafa meri dost ne har cheez check ki magar wiring dihaan se nahi dekhi thi.

Jab inspect karwaya, toh masla wahin tha:) Lahore mein ek reliable mechanic jo sensor issues aur wiring problems ko samajhta ho, uski advice lena bahut zaruri hai.

Kahin koi workshop jaante ho jo ache diagnostics mein maahir hai? Shaayad kisi ko pata ho. Pehle diagnostic scan bhi helpful ho sakta hai sensor issues detect karne mein.

@Eshaal Abbasi It is easy to overlook the fuel filter when troubleshooting these issues. A clean filter truly makes a difference in ensuring proper fuel flow.

while checking the filter, I would also recommend looking into the fuel lines. Over time, these can develop leaks or kinks that restrict flow too.

It might not be as obvious as a clogged filter but can create similar symptoms. A friend of mine had a similar experience, and once he replaced the fuel filter and inspected the lines, the problems were resolved. It is worth taking a closer look at all components involved in the fuel delivery system, just to be safe.

@Khadija Noor It is true that a faulty crankshaft position sensor can create a lot of issues, especially regarding timing and fuel delivery. I have dealt with this in my own car, and it was a pain to troubleshoot.

Sometimes, the problem might not even trigger a check engine light, making it even more tricky. I remember a friend had the same issue, and it took him a while to figure out that the sensor was the culprit.

Getting it replaced transformed his car's performance completely. It is definitely something to consider if other diagnostics have come up empty. Have you checked any local places for reliable sensor replacements? there are a few good mechanics around Lahore who specialize in such issues, like Auto Masters.

@Mahnoor Malik Those crankshaft position sensors are notorious for causing issues, but I would not say they are always the top reason behind timing or fuel delivery problems.

Sometimes, issues arise from poor connections at wiring or relays that go unnoticed. When my cousin's car had similar symptoms, we figured out it was actually a loose wire creating false readings.

we spent ages on the sensor before realizing that it was all about that connection. I suggest checking not just the sensor itself but also the whole electrical system.

You may save yourself from chasing the wrong problem for days. Going through local mechanics who are good with diagnostics can help, places like Auto Zone Mechanics local to Lahore have decent reputations for catching these kinds of things.

@Minal Fatima Crankshaft position sensors are definitely not the only culprits when it comes to timing and fuel delivery issues, but they should not be overlooked entirely either.

A faulty sensor can lead to incorrect timing, which has a direct impact on engine performance. In many cases, it is essential to consider the entire wiring harness as well.

if the connections are not secure or the wires are damaged, it can cause intermittent issues just like a bad sensor. I recall when my friend's car was stalling randomly, we found that a chafed wire in the harness was the real problem, not the sensor itself.

It might be worth checking out a local workshop that specializes in electrical diagnostics, like Electron Motors in Lahore. They often have the tools and expertise to trace these kinds of elusive issues, which can save you a lot of time and stress in the long run.

@Mahnoor Malik overlooking other components is not a good approach when diagnosing issues, especially with fuel systems and timing. Making the crankshaft position sensor your first suspect is convenient, but it can lead to significant oversights.

For example, I had a situation where a friend focused on the sensor and did not check the fuel injectors, which were clogged and causing similar symptoms.

He ended up wasting time and money on sensor replacements when a simple clean would have sufficed. it is crucial to consider the entire fuel system, including the delivery network.

Ignoring such areas can keep problems lingering longer than necessary which frustrates users. relying solely on a sensor diagnosis might not yield the best solutions.

Consulting with a comprehensive service like AutoTech in Lahore would be a good step. they do a thorough check and consider all potential causes when tackling these engine issues.

@Khadija Noor Random shutdowns really do send chills down your spine when driving. It is interesting how a crankshaft position sensor can impact so many aspects of your engine's performance.

In my experience, it is not just the sensor itself that could be faulty. Sometimes the reluctance to start again is caused by weak battery connections too.

If the battery terminals are corroded or loose, it can mimic similar symptoms to those caused by sensor issues. Recently, I had a friend who thought it was the crankshaft sensor causing his car to stall.

After checking the battery connections and cleaning them, the problem went away instantly. It saved him a lot of unnecessary hassle and money on unnecessary repairs. So, checking the battery connections while troubleshooting can be a smart move before going deep into sensor diagnostics.

Have you checked your fuel lines for any leaks or blockages? i had a similar problem, and when I looked closely, I found that my fuel line had a small crack that was causing the fuel delivery to be inconsistent.

@Minal Fatima Zabardast advice di apne! Main ab wiring aur connections check karwane ka soch raha hoon. Haal hi mein maine battery replace karwayi thi, toh mujhe laga sab theek hoga.

Lekin ab lag raha hai ke shayad koi loose connection masla bana raha ho. Apke khayal mein kya mujhe kisi specialized workshop lejana chahiye for a thorough check ya phir regular mechanic se consult karoon? Ye baat thori confusing lag rahi hai:) familar jagah pe zyada rahat hoti hai.

I faced a similar issue last year with my diesel engine shutting off unexpectedly. After a lot of troubleshooting, I discovered that the fuel filter was clogged. I replaced it, and it made a significant difference. Make sure to check yours as it could be causing the fuel flow issues.
