Using antibiotics to treat or prevent COVID-19 is dangerous and ineffective. Antibiotics don’t work on infections caused by viruses. Any time antibiotics are used, they can cause side effects and lead to antibiotic resistance.

But antibodies work best. Best way to not spread covid is to have antibodies from already having recovered from the covid cold. Since I am tired of responding to ignorant people, here you go: Covid reinfection is "rare". Covid infection from vaccines is at best 5%, which is much more likely than "rare"

I wish some docs would explain this and not give in to pressure. However, great for secondary infections that can result. This is why follow up appointments are so important!

Antibiotic are helpful to prevent secondary bacterial infections in already compromised lungs in covid.

Then why when I had it I was prescribed azithromycin ? I am not stupid as I do understand the concept of virus vs bacteria but how does this medication work against covid? This was the common protocol in November 2020 when I had it. Azithromycin and decadron. Not only did my md prescribe it but many of my friends and acquaintances were prescribed this regimen by their md as well.

Sadly there’s still people who are still taking antibiotics for almost anything as simple as a sore throat and yet they are convinced they are doing the right

Wash your hands. Wear a mask.
Get vaccinated.

Antibiotics don’t work on viruses, period....you know, since the Latin root word is “bios” which means “living”, and viruses are not living organisms.

Duhhhhh... they never worked on viruses, only bacterial illnesses. Remember when you had a virus they would say...
Go home drink hot liquids and get plenty of rest. Nothing has changed even though the narrative preached has!

People die of secondary pneumonia all the time. Depends at what stage of covid you are in and if you got the variant that attacks your lungs.

But providers will prescribe them for the prevention of secondary infection such as the case with the flu ( not the flu itself). Often prescribed antibiotics to prevent pneumonia.

That's odd that each time I've been sick and covid had been suspected the doc has prescribed antibiotics right away while waiting for my test results

Man I hope people are not perpetuating that garbage that antibiotics work on viruses again. They don’t, you need anti virals.

You're all confused

. It's clear that, you guys, the so-called experts are staking lottery still with our lives or, to put it more better, doing trial-and-error. God, please take over.

Not dangerous and not completely ineffective - several instances proving you wrong. but sure, pick and choose the research you want to disseminate and scare us into not prescribing

Doctors don’t prescribe antibiotics regardless. My children land in the ER because the doctor feels that ear infections should resolve on their own

or the strep test they don’t want to perform turns into an emergency room visit a week later. I’m so sick and tired of doctors not treating or diagnosing then padding insurance claims for repeat visits. This whole “no more antibiotics” is leading to dangerous life threatening conditions. Everything is a symptom of covid so how about we push doctors to do their job and spend more than 5 minutes examining a patient and diagnose.

Antibiotics are made just for infections. Works with bacterias. These are not antivirals. Using an antibiotic does NOTHING.

I think the answer is likely...some may benefit from an antibiotic and some will not. One size does not fit all in ANY medication, vaccine or any medical intervention. It is based on YOUR health circumstances and history. Antibiotics are anti-inflammatory so for those with inflamed lungs etc. it may help.

f course only anti virials work on the virus. Anti Biotic are for Bacteria. Everyone with a BRAIN should know that!

But they do help aide against the other bacterial infections that coincided with the covid-19 virus. Hydroclorequiln and zinc work with the virus.
