I am trying to figure out which university in Pakistan is best for pursuing mechanical engineering. I have heard a lot of mixed opinions about this topic.

Some people say NUST is the top choice due to its solid engineering programs and ranking but then others mention COMSATS University Islamabad as an equally good option because of its strong curriculum.

I feel a bit confused about the choice. My interest in mechanical engineering has really grown after attending a workshop on entrepreneurship in Lahore.

I am looking for a university that not only offers a good theoretical foundation but also practical exposure and opportunities for innovation. I am also considering my budget, which is around PKR 600,000 per year for tuition and related expenses.

Are there any universities in Pakistan that might offer scholarships or financial aid for engineering students? I have considered Quaid i Azam University too. It is often mentioned among the top universities for mechanical engineering, but I am not sure about the level of support and networking opportunities they provide for students looking to dive into startups or industry projects.

I do not want to end up in a place where it is all books and no hands on learning. It is really important for me to join a place that has a good balance between academics and real world application.

Moreover, considering the current job market situation for engineers in Pakistan, I want a university that can provide good career support and placement opportunities after graduation.

There seem to be fewer engineering jobs now, and I want to make sure my education gives me an edge in the market. If anyone has insights or personal experiences with these universities, please share. Your advice will be really valuable for someone like me who is just starting out.

For example, platforms like the Pakistan Software Export Board offer local events and workshops that could be more aligned with making connections in the industry. these can provide students valuable networking opportunities and direct exposure to potential employers, which is critical in today's job market.

@Aiman Fatima Campuses ki visit karna definitely ek solid idea hai. jab main COMSATS University Islamabad gayi thi, wahan ke labs kaafi impressive lage the. Inka focus practical learning pe tha jo mujhe clearly nazar aaya.

Ap jab wahan jaayein, try karein ke current students se baat ho. Unke experiences aur professors ke baray mein direct insight mil jata hai.

Is tarah apko samajh aata hai ke resources aur support kaisa milega. Agar koi open house ya special event ho raha ho, uspe jaane ka try karein.

Wahan pe real world application projects pe kaam kiya, jo mujhe bohot madadgaar laga. Main professionals ke saath kaam kar raha tha, aur un logon ne valuable insights share kiye.

Humne milke ek small scale prototype design bhi kiya, jo meri skills ko improve karne aur networking expand karne mein kaafi madadgar raha. Mera dost jo NUST se hai, uska kehna hai ke workshops mein faculty se zyada free advice milti hai, lekin kabhi kabhi kuch creative spark jo hackathon se milti hai, wo nahi hoti.

Matlab lab mein research karte rehna aur koi action na lena, thora boring ho jata hai, nahi? aur agar startup scene ki baat karein, to apko market pe focus karna chahiye.

Hackathons mein apne ideas ko asal duniya mein implement karne ka mauqa nahi milta. Ye sab innovation labs aur workshops to sirf theory ka part hain.

Kya apne dekha hai koi university ke project ne real life mein kya impact dala hai? Jab tak ap koi sprint ya hackathon nahi karte, wo asli creativity nahi nikalti!

Should I ask about their experiences directly or start with something more general about the university? I do not want to sound too pushy. Also, do you know if alumni often respond to inquiries? It would be great to get some insights from them.
 
Choosing a university is tough, but keep in mind the job market reality. I graduated from a decent program and struggled to find relevant work. It took me months to land a job, and even then it was not in my field.
