Is Starting a Web Dev Business in 2026 Worth It in Pakistan?

@Anum Khan thanks for the suggestion about starting with choti projects. I think it makes a lot of sense, and it is encouraging to hear that you did well with local businesses.

I am currently looking into a few local cafes and small shops to pitch my services. do you think I should focus on a specific niche, or is it better to offer general web development services initially? I want to make sure I am approaching this in the right way.

@Anum Khan Starting with choti projects is fine for experience, but some local businesses might not always understand the value of good web design. Many think they can get away with cheap templates just because it looks okay, not realizing how important user experience is.

Building a portfolio with quality work can take time, and it is crucial to set yourself apart. As I started, there was a client who wanted a basic website but was unwilling to invest more for better features.

In the end, I had to turn them down because I knew the project would not reflect my skills. Focus on getting clients who appreciate quality over just low prices.

you can join local business groups on Facebook or find co working spaces where people are actively looking for web developers. This can help you connect with potential clients who value design and are willing to pay for it.
