The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has won the 2024 elections in the northwestern region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and its founder, Imran Khan, has nominated Ali Amin Gandapur as the next chief minister of KP. Imran Khan, who has been in ja_il since August last year, confirmed Gandapur's nomination to journalists during a formal conversation. He stated that his party would not negotiate with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) for a coalition government.
In a significant election in Dera Ismail Khan - NA-44, PTI's Ali Amin Gandapur defeated Maulana Fazlur Rehman of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), securing 92,244 votes. Ali Amin Gandapur is a well-known politician who previously served as the Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan from October 5, 2018, to April 10, 2022. He was also a member of the Provincial Assembly of KP from 2013 to 2018, where he held the position of Provincial Minister for Revenue.
